In McGregor Cup – Select action last weekend at Laurentian University, the Northern Chill 17U Subzero squad battled their way to a fifth-place finish.
In opening play, the Chill swept past both the Oakville Thunder Strike and the Phoenix Heat from Toronto . The quarter-final saw the locals lose a pair of close sets to Pakmen Gold from Mississauga. “The competition here is so much higher,” said Chill libero Mia Robson, a Grade 11 student at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary, reflecting on the team’s climb to No. 1 ranked in the city. “I knew that I always wanted to play up to this level, but this is a bit more than I anticipated. I think I’ve become accustomed to it now.”
