A smash-and-grab robbery at Peoples Jewellers in Hamilton, Ontario, resulted in the arrest of a Toronto teenager. Three other suspects remain at large.
A teenage suspect from Toronto has been apprehended following a brazen smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Hamilton , Ontario , on Tuesday afternoon. Four suspects, armed with hammers, targeted Peoples Jewellers inside CF Lime Ridge mall shortly after 3 p.m. They smashed display cases, making off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene on foot.
Two of the suspects managed to jump into a getaway vehicle that sped away from the mall, while the other two ran through the parking lot. Responding officers quickly took one of the suspects, a Toronto youth, into custody thanks in part to the assistance of vigilant community members. During a search of the area, police recovered jewelry and clothing believed to be connected to the robbery. It is unclear whether charges have been formally laid against the apprehended teenager. Meanwhile, authorities are seeking information about the three remaining suspects who remain at large. One of the suspects was last seen near Limeridge Road West, between Upper Wellington Street and Upper Wentworth Street. Police are actively canvassing residents in the area for any additional surveillance footage that could aid in their investigation.
