Happy Thursday. We didn’t do Jays of the Day last night so: Addison Barger , Eric Lauer , Vladimir Guerrero , Bo Bichette , and Yariel Rodriguez . Other Award: Alejandro Kirk . Kirk is in a rough patch.
He’s 0 for the last four games, 0 for 16. His average dropped from .325 to .305. Ernie Clement went 3 for 5 but had a -.062 WPA . He’s pretty amazing against lefty pitchers. Davis Schneider went 0 for 2, dropping his batting average to .154. I think they should try another right-handed hitting outfielder, but there isn’t one in Buffalo. I would have thought they would give Orelvis Martinez some innings in the outfield. Or just put Alan Roden in the lineup against lefties. He can’t be any worse. Seeing Lourdes Gurriel and Randal Grichuk back in Toronto is nice, especially since they didn’t beat us. Straw isn’t going on the IL. And Nathan Lukes should be back tomorrow. Max Scherzer went 4.1 innings, with 8 strikeouts, throwing 75 pitches. He should be up in Toronto for his next start. But that doesn’t mean Eric Lauer should lose his spot in the rotation. Yesterday’s Umpire Scorecard. As usual, the trailing team had a bit of an edge. Today’s lineup. Roden gets to play.
