Police say both suspects are in custody

THUNDER BAY — Two people have been arrested and charged due to an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking, Thunder Bay police say.

According to a media release, police stopped and searched a male suspect and a vehicle in the 100 block of Shuniah Street shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday. Police said officers found a quantity of suspected fentanyl, $3,300 in cash and other items associated with drug trafficking. Another search of a home on Sequoia Drive allegedly turned up a loaded shotgun that police said had its serial number removed, along with other items associated with drug trafficking. A female suspect was arrested, police said.A 27 year-old man and a 27 year-old woman now each face a number of firearms charges, including tampering with the serial number of a firearm. The man has also been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
