Three\u002Dtime Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Johnston to tutor future Flames as development camp begins
Rebecca Johnston can relate. Johnston, who not long ago earned her third Olympic gold medal with Team Canada, will be helping to tutor the Flames’ prospects as a guest coach.
The Flames opened their summer development Monday with medicals. A grand total of 43 hopefuls — headlined by Harvard Crimson sharpshooter Matthew Coronato, a first-round pick last summer — will lace ’em up Tuesday at 7 Chiefs Sportsplex. A talented and tenacious forward, Johnston contributed two goals and eight assists in seven games with Canada’s golden group at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. She added that latest medal to an impressive stash — gold from Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, plus silver from Pyeongchang 2018. She has also represented her country at 10 world championship tournaments, and has a shiny keepsake from each of them.
