This week’s events around Metro Vancouver include 5 Corners Buskers & Comedy Festival and Theatre la Seizieme's presentation of Stallone.

The first opera written about any Chinatown in Canada, and likely the first opera written in English, Cantonese, and Hoisan combined, this production examines six characters, two families, and a chorus of ghosts, from the building of the CPR through to present-day. It is also the first libretto by Vancouver author Madeleine Thien and City Opera’s first presentation at the Playhouse Theatre, chosen partly because of its proximity to Chinatown.

Flasher, the duo of Taylor Mulitz and Emma Baker, plays songs from its current album Love is Yours at the Fox Cabaret on Sept. 9.
