“A condition of any sale will be that the team remains in Ottawa. The organization will have no further comment on this process at this time.” There’s no shortage of interested parties in purchasing the Senators, especially with the club winning preferred bidder status from the National Capital Commission to build a new rink 10 minutes from downtown at LeBreton Flats.

“This team is going to stay here, and if we could eventually go downtown, it would be great for the city in general to be in the centre of Ottawa. We’ll have to see how the next few weeks go.”Article content The Senators would like to follow a similar path to the one taken with Edmonton Ice District and Rogers Place Arena. The city and the province both played a role in the funding. Newly-elected Mayor Mark Sutcliffe will have to deal with this issue when he gets into office.Article contentVancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds is the biggest name to emerge since it was learned the club went up for sale, but it would make sense if he partnered up with somebody else trying to purchase the team.
