The growth rate of startups innovating in the fertility space can be directly correlated with several factors including:Advances in fertility treatments have made it more feasible for women to have children later in their lifetime.
The cost of fertility treatments are being subsidized or covered by an increasing number of employers. “In recent years we have seen a significant influx of patients seeking guidance and treatment options regarding infertility,” said Allison P. Boyle, MS PA-C and Clinical Professor at Touro School of Health Sciences. “This is consistent with our data showing that ~24% of married and childless women are being diagnosed with impaired fecundity, difficulty in becoming pregnant or carrying to term.
Over the last five years, we have already started to see an increase in the number of startups entering the fertility space touching everything from hardware and diagnostics to community-driven mobile apps and tracking apps. We are also seeing geographic diversity in where these startups are being founded — it’s not just the Bay Area.
