If the B.C. government calls an inquiry into money laundering, it may be difficult to get answers if it doesn’t have the power to subpoena federal officials, said a political science professor.
Premier John Horgan is expected to announce Wednesday whether or not his government will launch a multimillion-dollar public inquiry into the billions laundered through real estate, luxury cars and casinos. The commission can also apply to the courts for an order finding a person in contempt “for failing or refusing to comply with a summons.”
