Infielder Gosuke Katoh wasn’t expecting anything when Charlie Montoyo sidled up to his locker Monday. When the manager offered his congratulations on making the big-league team, the 27-year-old Katoh, a nine-year veteran of the minor leagues, didn’t believe him.Montoyo wasn’t, of course. A minor-league manager for 17 years before he joined the Tampa Bay Rays as a coach, the Puerto Rico native knows better than to toy with a player’s emotions.
