Starting with three auditions at the Young Stars Classic, Calgary Flames prospect Matthew Coronato wants to prove he\u0027s ready for the NHL.
Coronato would like to be very similar to Mangiapane in another way. It’s possible — likely, even — that both names will appear on the Flames’ lineup sheet on opening night.
If you follow the Flames, you already know that the new bosses — Craig Conroy as general manager and Ryan Huska as head coach — have been adamant that there will be job openings for the up-and-comers. It’s not far-fetched to think there could be two or three rookies in the home lineup for the Oct. 11 lid-lifter at the Saddledome.
Coronato has heard all about the opportunity available. He ratcheted up expectations with an impressive performance in his NHL debut — he fired four shots on net and earned a third-star nod in that April 12 intro against the San Jose Sharks — and then a strong showing for Team USA at world championships.
