The Terrace River Kings clinched two consecutive wins against the Prince Rupert Rampage over the weekend, starting with a thrilling 6-5 overtime triumph at the Terrace Sports plex on Jan. 3 and following up with a decisive 5-1 victory at the Jim Ciccone Centre in Prince Rupert the next night.Prince Rupert opened the Jan. 3 game with an early goal from Judd Repole just 59 seconds into the first period.
Prince Rupert equalized minutes later via Hunter Johnson, setting the tone for a back-and-forth battle. Roseboom struck again to restore Terrace’s lead, but a powerplay goal by Jared Meers levelled the game at 3-3. Late in the period, Austin Turner put Terrace ahead, only for Drew Fudger to tie the score at 4-4 with a buzzer-beater.
Turner became the hero of the night, scoring just 2:50 into the extra frame to secure the River Kings' 6-5 victory.Terrace carried their momentum into the Jan. 4 rematch, dominating from the start.
