The Terrace River Kings held on to their home ice advantage to secure a tense 4-3 victory over the Quesnel Kangaroos on Dec. 7 at the Terrace Sportsplex.
Jakob McLean opened the scoring at 10:24 in the first period during a powerplay, giving Terrace an early edge, which they held 1-0 heading into the first intermission.
Early in the second, Ryan Roseboom doubled the lead just 65 seconds in, making it 2-0. Quesnel struck back midway through the period, with Marshall Brown’s goal at 4:38 cutting Terrace’s lead in half. The River Kings maintained a narrow 2-1 advantage heading into the third. The action ramped up quickly in the final frame. Roseboom struck again just 75 seconds in, stretching Terrace’s lead to 3-1. Mason Richey followed up at 4:22, seemingly putting the game out of reach at 4-1.
But Quesnel refused to back down. Brody Dale brought the Kangaroos closer with a goal at 11:34, reducing the deficit to 4-2. The closing moments saw heightened tension as Brett Mero’s goal with just 50 seconds left tightened the score to 4-3, but the River Kings held firm to clinch the win.
