Full LRT service returned Friday afternoon after more than four days of repair work. The main issue was a section of the O-Train’s overhead catenary grid was damaged by a lightning strike last Sunday.From Tuesday to Friday, Transpo operated trains between Blair and St. Laurent stations and Rideau and Tunney’s Pasture stations. The R1 replacement bus system was put in in place.
Meanwhile, Transpo boss Renée Amilcar said in a message Saturday that further inspections of axel hubs on the trains will require slower speeds on operating trains and slightly longer ride times.Article contentFollowing this, all trains with more than 175,000 kilometres of service were pulled for inspection and are to have their axle hubs replaced.She said the manufacturers of the cars have asked Transpo to reduce speeds along certain sections of the track while the investigation continues.
