Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for North Vancouver Island and parts of the central coast, predicting strong winds that may cause damage and power outages.

Strong winds are expected to sweep over North Vancouver Island on Thursday, according to a weather alert posted by Environment Canada.The wind warning is also active for parts of the central coast, just east of North Vancouver Island . A Pacific frontal system approaching the BC coast is bringing strong winds to the region, said Environment Canada in its alert posted just after 5:40 a.m. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
