The vehicle lost a wheel when police tried to stop it.

Victoria police received a report from owners of a stolen vehicle saying they had seen it being driven downtown.

Officers found the vehicle and got behind it but the driver ran a red light and officers did not pursue it, VicPD spokesperson Cheryl Major said. Officers found the vehicle stationary shortly after and used a manoeuvre to try to prevent the vehicle from moving, which ended with a police car disabled and a tire coming off the stolen vehicle.Video footage taken on Douglas Street at Boleskine shows a southbound pick-up truck missing its front left tire turning left through the intersection. Several police cars can be seen in the distance trying to catch up to the vehicle.

Another video shows the truck travelling north on Douglas in front of Mayfair mall on the wrong side of the street, sparks flying from where the missing tire should be.Police continue to investigate.
