Sault Police arrested a man who allegedly stole credit and debit cards from two victims and made multiple fraudulent transactions. The investigation began after a 911 call reported the theft of a victim's cards in the 700 block of Great Northern Road. Police discovered the cards and cash were stolen from a wallet, and after arresting a suspect, found another stolen credit and debit card belonging to a second victim. Further investigation revealed these cards had also been used in fraudulent transactions.

The investigation began at around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, when someone phoned 911 to report “the theft — and use — of a victim’s credit and debit cards in the 700 block of Great Northern Road.”After a suspect was arrested and searched, police say they found another stolen credit card and debit card belonging to a second victim.
“Further investigation revealed these cards had also been used in fraudulent transactions,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 24, 2025. None of the allegations have been tested in court and Thorne is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
