After going 2-16 last year based out of the LEC as the Vancouver Stealth, the Canucks new property goes 5-13 this season at Rogers Arena

The Warriors wrapped their first season as a Vancouver Canucks property playing at Rogers Arena on Friday with a 15-9 loss to the visiting Toronto Rock and there’s much room for improvement.

Small was traded before this season started by Warriors general manager Dan Richardson to the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for Mitch Jones. Small had wanted out, asking to play in the east after relocating closer to his St. Catharines, Ont., roots following several seasons being based out of Victoria.

These Warriors are different. Richardson and coach Chris Gill were given the controls just days after the Canucks bought the club and started a rebranding and a move to Rogers, and they put together a roster with more grit and snarl than we saw in the Stealth incarnations. They were still in the playoff hunt before each of those games. Their season would grade out better if they had lost those games by a more normal standard.

The Mammoth, who are owned by the Colorado Avalanche, averaged 12,815 for their contests at the Pepsi Center. To have a chance at getting to Roughneck or Mammoth attendance numbers, that Warriors will obviously have to win more. To do that, they’ll obviously have to score more.
