Star Wars' Crimson Reign event is revealing the untold history of the Original Trilogy era, as the galaxy's greatest assassins engage in secret missions to restructure the Empire itself in their favor.

In a new preview for Marvel Comics' Crimson Reign #2, two of the greatest assassins in the Star Wars galaxy have been hired to kill none other than Emperor Palpatine himself. With Crimson Dawn rising in power and upsetting the entire criminal underworld, the Emperor is not pleased in the slightest. While he's sent Darth Vader to exterminate them, it appears as though the Dawn's Lady Qi'ra is bold enough to send agents to Palpatine directly in this new preview.

Crimson Dawn was the creation of Maul following the end of the Clone Wars, but they faded into obscurity after the former Sith Lord's ultimate death at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. However, new Star Wars comics have revealed that the Dawn was reborn in between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi being led by Maul's second in command Lady Qi'ra .

While the synopsis teases that Ochi and Deathsick have been given their own individual targets, the preview pages imply that they'll both be going after Palpatine. As such, it will interesting to see if their paths do indeed intersect. Both assassins have unique reasons for why they kill others, coming from places of significant loss and pain.

While Ochi and Deathstick are destined to fail in this upcoming issue set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, an assassination attempt against the Emperor will still be all kinds of exciting in this new Star Wars era. Not only are Ochi's true allegiances incredibly suspect at the moment, but one can imagine Emperor Palpatine won't take an attempt on his life lightly when the full issue of Crimson Reign #2 is released on February 2nd. .
