ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — With the recent announcement of the retirement of Liberal MHA Tom Osborne, the people of Waterford Valley will need someone new to represent their area, and St. John’s Coun. Jamie Korab is hoping to fill those shoes.
“My kids are a bit older. I've got seven years under my belt with city council, the timing is right now,” the Ward 3 councillor told The Telegram on Monday. “I almost ran in the last election, but it just wasn't the right time for me with family and there was no real place for me to fit in anywhere. He said more specifically, he wanted to run in the western part of the city, where he has mostly lived over the years, which narrowed down his options even further. So, when Osborne announced he would be retiring after 28 years and leaving the Waterford Valley seat open, it was an easy decision for the former professional curler and Olympic gold medalist.
