Carter Wishart bringing two seasons of NAHL junior experience to BCHL team

They’ve signed 2005-born goalie Carter Wishart to stop pucks for them in the 2024-25 B.C. Hockey League season.

Wishart, a six-foot-one, 172-pound native of Chaska, Minn., is committed to NCAA Division 1 Colgate University starting in 2025. “I chose Prince George because it seemed like the best spot for me to develop my game, and to help me achieve success at the next level,” said Wishart, in a team release. “I’m looking forward to new challenges in a league full of talent, and to hopefully help bring the Fred Page Cup back to Prince George.”

He’s bringing two seasons of North American Hockey League junior experience from the Chippewa Steel. This past season in 31 games he complied a 2.99 goals-against average and .907 save percentage with two shutouts while posting a 13-1-3-2 record."We're thrilled that we were able to add Carter to our group,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “He's an elite-level goalie and a tremendous young man who will be leaned on heavily to provide stability on and off the ice.

Wishart will join 17-year-old rookie Ryder Green as a Spruce Kings goalie. Green, a native of Prince George, signed with the Kings a few months ago after a stellar season in the B.C. Elite Hockey League with the U-18 Cariboo Cougars.
