Host team faces off against Vaughan Kings at 7:30 p.m. at new Northern Community Centre Arena on Goulais Avenue
The Soo Jr. Greyhounds will play for gold tonight at the Ontario Hockey Federation’s U15 AAA hockey championships being hosted in the Sault.
The Sault beat the Upper Canada Cyclones 5-1 earlier today in the semifinals, while the Vaughan Kings downed the York Simcoe Express 4-2 in the other semifinal tilt to punch their ticket to the gold medal matchup. The Sault and Vaughan met earlier in round-robin play, with the Sault coming out on top 2-0, handing the Kings their only loss in the tournament. The Kings enter the final with a record of 6-1-0.
The Greyhounds enter the final without a loss and a record of 6-0-1, having played to a 2-2 tie against the Cyclones on Thursday. Games are being hosted at the recently opened twin-pad Northern Community Centre arena at 556 Goulais Ave.Puck drop for the championship game between the Sault and Vaughan is at 7:30 p.m.
