NEW: Small airplane crash lands near Buttonville Airport and Highway 404 in Markham
York Regional Police are asking people to stay away from a stretch of roadway near Buttonville Airport after a small aircraft has crashed in the area.The incident did not occur on the highway but the MTO has ordered the closure of the 404 near 16th Avenue.
Police told the Star that a “small aircraft had difficulty it appears with landing.” They added that the plane may have overshot the runway.occurred on Oct. 28, 2021, when a small, single-engine plane landed on the eastbound lanes of the 407 Highway near Woodbine Avenue.It’s unclear how many souls were on board.
