“The folks at Skoden Indigenous Film Festival are building a community through a shared passion for cinema, and since it is student-run, the community builds and builds every year. It’s a really wonderful event.” Skoden Indigenous Film Festival co-founder Carr Sappier began the festival as a way to create more space for Indigenous communities within Simon Fraser University.“I wanted to start the Skoden Indigenous Film Festival for many reasons and the main one was creating more space for the Indigenous communities within SFU. I was also one of the very few Indigenous students studying in SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts .
