Hiring spree comes as international student enrolment continues to grow
The hiring spree will come as a result of tuition fee revenue from the increasing enrolment of international students at the college.
The new hires will include 12 support staff, eight professors and four administrators. The professors will be teaching in the skilled trades, business, robotics, early childhood education and several other areas of study. Sault College employs 335 full-time workers and approximately 275 part-time workers, said Rick Webb, Sault College director of human resources and communications, after Thursday’s Sault College board of governors meeting.
The college’s number of employees has remained at approximately that level — with very little fluctuation — for the past 19 years, Webb said.The increase comes as students from 54 countries around the world — notably Brazil, India, Nigeria and The Philippines — continue to flock to Sault College.
