'Lion the Electrician' is the first of a series of books planned for children to better understand careers in trades
It's common practice for authors is to write about what they know, so when Sault-born master electrician Steve McKeown began his Animal Trades series on introducing trades to children, he knew just where to start.
"We had shop classes, they were certainly there, but they weren't really highlighted as a viable option," said McKeown. "I still ended up becoming a tradesperson at the end." McKeown sees a place for the book series in elementary school curriculums and even created a lesson plan to go with Lion the Electrician.
