REGINA — Argonauts head coach Ryan Dinwiddie likes where his team is at on the eve of its biggest game of the season.
While the Bombers are favoured by 5.5 points and hold a statistical edge on Toronto in most categories, Dinwiddie has impressed upon his players that they deserve to be here just as much.
Dinwiddie’s routine on the eve of kickoff won’t change — a ritual that usually involves having a steak at The Keg.The Argos got off to a quick start in the East final, but started slowly in the one and only meeting with Winnipeg earlier this season at BMO Field when the Blue Bombers produced a pick-six.Andrew Harris will have his 12-year-old daughter in town from Winnipeg and his newly born son from Toronto.
During his availability on Saturday, Harris was asked how he has changed since he made the move to Toronto from Winnipeg. Meet defensive lineman Jared Brinkman, who finds himself on the brink of playing the biggest game of his pro life having appeared in just one CFL game — the Argos’ meaningless season finale against Montreal.
Sunday’s Grey Cup will be won if the Argos can stop Winnipeg’s run game and force the Blue Bombers to throw the football. At least, that’s the obvious path the Argos need to take to pull off the upset. “This is surreal,’’ said Brinkman. “This is a dream come true and I’m blessed for the opportunity to do whatever I’m asked to do to help our team win.”Article content
