Robert De Niro is set to star in the upcoming Warner Bros. mob drama Wise Guys from director Barry Levinson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

, which saw De Niro star in the film as Bernie Madoff. In a twist on things, however, De Niro will be featured twice in the movie, and will play two of the main characters.will be a period piece that tells the story of Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two Italian-Americans who are running competing crime families throughout the mid-20th century. In 1957, Genovese attempted to assassinate Costello but failed, although he did cause Costello to retire at the time.
Reports mention that De Niro is set to portray both Genovese and Costello, although it’s unclear just how this will be accomplished or who else is set to appear in the film.also marks the first official, original feature following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery. It’s unclear when the film will come out, but this does add another project to De Niro’s already busy schedule. The actor will star in David O. Russell’s mystery comedy film.
