St. John’s council approved a discretionary use application to allow a take-out at 34 Aldershot St. Smiling Sisters Ltd., a Taiwanese-style food and drink vendor which also sells its wares at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market, had made the application to allow its food to be prepared and sold at the location off Empire Avenue. On-street parking is available and orders will be placed online, with the hours of operation being Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Cornwall Crescent Block Party will be held around 39–45 Cornwall Crescent on June 29 from noon to 10 p.m. and local vehicle and emergency access will be granted. The Mews 8K Road Race, scheduled for June 9 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., will begin at Mundy Pond and end at the Quidi Vidi Boat house and the RNC will be present as an escort. The lane reductions and closures for this race are:Campbell Avenue – westbound, west of CashinLake Avenue – Eastbound LaneClancey Drive and Lakeview Avenue – Both Directions Road closures related to the filming of the new television series Saint Pierre were approved by council.
