and Twitter/Square CEO Jack Dorsey announced on Thursday a joint $4.2 million grant to the Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles, helping domestic violence victims in the city amid the COVID-19"stay at home" order.
According to a press release, the Los Angeles Housing Authority determined that approximately 90 people per week have been turned away from full domestic violence shelters in Los Angeles since the Safer at Home Order was issued. With approximately $125 per day, the funds will provide 10 weeks of shelter, meals and counseling for 90 domestic violence victims per week, with an additional 90 victims every week thereafter for 10 weeks.
The news comes just days after Dorsey announced that he will be donating $1 billion of his equity in Square to help fund COVID-19 relief efforts, girls health and education and Universal Basic Income pilot programs. Last week, CLF and
