The Riders did that by starting with a youth rally in Saskatoon on Tuesday. In Regina, they focused on the technology and digital side of things with virtual displays, an ESports competition and a focus on family and youth. Some of the other events were a Family Fair, the Harvard Media Community Stage and the NexGen Energy Street Festival.Article content
“We’ve attracted some families to the Festival so now we’re thinking about how they can do better and make it better,” Reynolds said. “That’s what we’re hoping happens.”was a combination of family events and the adult aspect that is such a key part of the Grey Cup. Reynolds said he was talking to a woman who had brought her daughter to the family events. She was planning to leave her daughter with her grandparents in order to enjoy some of the adult-centred festivities in the evening.
“That’s exactly what we wanted to have happen,” Reynolds said. “We wanted the families to enjoy the Festival during the day. Then we could have mom and dad enjoy the evening because we know the Grey Cup is fantastic party atmosphere. We thought we could do both and we feel great about that.”Article content
