The first Indigenous candidate for prime minister says his fellow running mates in the Liberal leadership race can’t afford to become 'prisoners of the moment,' running towards the day's most pressing concern while losing sight of his party’s long-term goals and commitment to reconciliation and fighting climate change. On Jan.
21, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Minister Gary Anandasangaree and Indigenous Relations Minister Patty Hajdu endorsed Carney for leader. In their endorsements posted to social media, the pair cited Carney’s “vision, experience, and leadership” to take on Poilievre , and “tackle affordability, fight climate change, and grow our economy.
