On Tuesday, PWHL Boston announced it has signed defender Emma Greco to a one-year contract.“Emma is a steady, reliable defenseman with proven experience in this league, general manager Danielle Marmer said in a release. “She was a part of Minnesota’s Walter Cup-winning team, so she knows what it takes to win in the playoffs. Her hard defending and simple puck-moving style is an identity we’re excited to add to our D-corps.

Greco played the inaugural season with Minnesota, as she made the team out of training camp. The Burlington, Ontario native was already a professional veteran prior to coming to the PWHL, giving Minnesota some experience on the blue line. She didn’t score any points in 22 regular season games, or 10 playoff games on Minnesota’s path to the championship. However, Greco ended up with a plus/minus of +8.

“I am excited and grateful to be joining PWHL Boston,” Greco said. “I know Boston is a sports city with incredible fans and I’m looking forward to seeing them at the home opener.” The 2024 season was the 29-year-old’s sixth in pro hockey. After her time at Quinnipiac University was complete, in which she also played for the school’s soccer team, Greco briefly joined the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation–formerly National Women’s Hockey League–for the 2017-18 campaign. The following year saw her joining the Canadian Women’s Hockey League’s Toronto Furies before the league folded in 2019.
