Pursuit ends in Oceanside crash; at least 1 person dead [Breaking]
At least one person died Friday morning when a pickup pursued by law enforcement crashed in a North County intersection.
San Diego County sheriff’s deputies began pursuing the truck in Vista around 4 a.m. The vehicle crashed at the intersection of Lake Boulevard and Cannon Road in Oceanside. The pickup plowed head-on into a traffic light pole near an apartment complex. The truck was carrying pool chemicals, which spilled in the area.
A hazardous materials crew was called in to clean up the chemical spill, Oceanside police Lt. Scott Garrett said. The intersection will be closed for several hours, likely until after noon, he said. Staff writer Teri Figueroa contributed to this report. This is a breaking news story. More details will be added as soon as they become available.
