Public Health is offering another reminder to residents about the presence of COVID and other respiratory illness circumstances circulating in the community.

As of yesterday, there were 17 people in hospital as a result of the COVID-19 virus, with three COVID-related deaths over the last week. Public Health is reminding residents who experience COVID or other respiratory symptoms to stay at home until those symptoms have improved and you haven’t had a fever for at least 24 hours.

To minimize the impact of COVID and seasonable viruses Public Health is encouraging people to get their flu and COVID vaccines. For ten days after those symptoms start residents are asked to wear a mask when outside their home, avoid non-essential visits to high-risk areas like hospitals, long-term care home and social gatherings, and avoid non-essential close contact with those at high-risk including those with chronic conditions, seniors or those with compromised immune systems.
