he consumer price index increased 6.8 per cent from November 2021, down from year-over-year increases of 6.9 per cent in September and October. By comparison, cellular services cost 6.3 per cent less in October than they did in the same month in 2021. Canada saw the biggest annual price dip in such services in March 2021 when prices went down 23.3 per cent at a time when the Omicron variant of COVID-19 kept physical businesses shut.Article content

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has previously said that mobile prices in Canada have been dropping over the past several years, with the average monthly cost of a 5-gigabyte mobile package falling by 11 per cent between 2016 and 2021. The CRTC did not immediately provide comment on the latest CPI data.
