Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Whitby, Ontario, on January 12. A male suspect offered a female victim a ride before driving her to an area in Whitby where he sexually assaulted her. The suspect is described as a Black male, 40 to 50 years old, with a large build and black beard. Police are asking anyone with dashcam or video footage from the area of Simcoe Street South, between Olive Avenue and Highway 401, between 2:15 and 3:15 a.m. on January 12 to contact DRPS.
A photo of the vehicle used by the suspect who sexually assaulted a female in Whitby on Jan. 12. said they were called to the area of Victoria Street East and Thickson Road south just after 4 a.m. on Jan. 12 for reports of a sexual assault .
The suspect then allegedly drove the victim to the area of Moore Court and William Smith Drive in Whitby, where he proceeded to sexually assault her. His vehicle is described by police as a newer black pickup truck with automatic running boards and black leather seats. Police said the victim reported seeing construction helmets in the back seat.
