Police responded to a report at 9:20 a.m. of a the armed man threatening people who are known to him, police said in a release. He fled on foot before police arrived.The suspect is described as a white man, approximately six feet tall and weighing 170 lbs., He is bald and was last seen wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
Gaston Road is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Police are asking people to stay away from the area as the large response of officers, including police dogs, search for the man. An emergency alert was sent out to people in the surrounding areas warning them to be on the lookout for the man. The alert also advised people to stay away from the Gaston Road area and residents were asked to shelter in place.
