After 26 years as a business owner, Charlottetown’s Paul Gaudet is entering the race to become the new city councillor for Charlottetown’s Ward 7 – Beach Grove constituency. - ContributedCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Paul Gaudet has announced his bid for a Charlottetown city council seat in Ward 7 – Beach Grove.

Gaudet, who was born and raised in Charlottetown, was a business owner for more than 26 years and said he hopes to apply his business and fiscal management skills to help develop the city.As a councillor, Gaudet said he would focus on police and fire protection services, developing multi-use corridors for cyclists and walkers and continuing to update the city’s infrastructure.

“Addressing the issues of the voters is paramount to the prosperity and growth of our community,” said Gaudet. After retiring from life as a business owner, Gaudet volunteered at the Eastlink COVID-19 vaccination clinics and currently volunteers in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital emergency department. He is the president of the Second Chances Community Band and was a past sponsor of the Charlottetown Islanders and various community programs.
