Ukraine attacks: Pa. Capitol will honor of victims of the war

The front of Pennsylvania Capitol will be bathed in blue and yellow starting Saturday night in support of the people of Ukraine which has been under attack by Russia since Thursday. File/PennLive.comThe Pennsylvania Capitol will be covered in blue and yellow lights on Saturday night in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people whose country has been under attack by Russia since Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration.

“I think it’s important for people to recognize what’s happening because there’s been a violent invasion of a sovereign country,” Kolmansberger said “It’s important for us to take notice of that and speak out against it.” Kolmansberger contacted Sen. Mike Regan, R-Cumberland/York counties, on Saturday morning to ask if there was a chance of lighting up the state Capitol in blue and yellow in support of Ukraine. He sent him photos of the Empire State Building and another structure lit up in the colors of the Eastern European nation’s flag.

“I said I think it’s a great idea,” Regan said. “At a time when things have probably never been more divisive that we can come together for something like this.”
