Council approves Park Street shelter extension

The province can apply again, but must wait one year for that location, under the Planning Act, she said. Coun. Norman Beck listens to debate during the Sept. 25 special council meeting. - Logan MacLean/SaltWire While planning was a central concern during the debate, other councillors who voted no spoke about safety concerns from residents living in the area, saying those residents have fears about the Park Street shelter and Community Outreach Centre.
“If we do nothing, nothing is going to change, in my mind. And we will get more of the same, potentially worse. That’s a big question. No one knows; no one has a crystal ball on this. We’re working on hope.” –While voting yes, he was not sure it was the right decision, but it would allow the province and city to collect information over the year and have something concrete to evaluate.
