'The Ottawa Redblacks need to find a way to keep quarterback Dustin Crum healthy; they need to make sure he doesn't take as many big hits.'
Teams continue to lose quarterbacks with Mitchell, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats starter, the latest to go down, probably for an extended period. It can be devastating. The Ottawa Redblacks have to take a deep breath and hope every time Crum takes off and runs. His mobility has been a huge benefit, for sure, but the young quarterback is going to have to figure out a way to play safer. He can’t continue to put his body at risk and take hit after hit after hit. He gets hit hard. And he gets hit often.
Crum completed 13-of-21 passes for 158 yards and rushed for 81 yards on 13 carries. The Ticats got some good shots at him, something head coach Bob Dyce in the moments after the game acknowledged could be a problem going forward. Ottawa’s only points Friday came off four Lewis Ward field goals. The offence? Well, it did churn up some yards on the ground . But the passing game was non-existent most of the game . It was telling that the Redblacks were 4-of-21 on second-down conversions and 0-2 in the Red Zone. Time of Possession was also slanted in Hamilton’s favour: 31:50-28:10.Article content
