An email calling for the Ottawa Police Service to hand over responsibility for the Freedom Convoy protests to the RCMP went unanswered, say two city councillors. On Friday, the Public Order Emergency Commission continued its examination of the federal government’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act on Feb. 14. The second day of the inquiry focused on the impacts the convoy had on the city of Ottawa.

The inquiry heard how the constant noise and fumes from the vehicles “traumatized” residents; many felt abandoned by the city and police.
