Two Outaouais residents infected by measles on return to Canada

Health officials are issuing cautions on both sides of the Ottawa River after confirmation that two Outaouais residents were infected with measles when they returned to Canada on a trip from Brussels.“Two cases of measles in Outaouais residents have been confirmed,” OPH said Saturday in a statement attributed to Dr. Trevor Arnason, associate medical officer of health.

“Ottawa Public Health is currently working closely with other public health units, local health care providers and hospitals to identify and directly notify individuals who may have been exposed to measles in Ottawa and provide guidance on how they can best protect themselves and those around them.when OPH receives a report of a suspected or confirmed infectious disease of public health importance , our team initiates an investigation in accordance with protocol.

Health officials said the infected people are from the same family and not vaccinated against measles.
