Tradition would have it that Poilievre would thank him for his service and move on. Instead, Poilievre accused him of quitting because he didn’t want to fight “Justin Trudeau’s inflation.” Soon enough, Rayes’s constituency office and his inbox were flooded with demands for a full resignation from the House of Commons — prompting an apology of sorts from the Conservative party the next day for unbecoming tactics.
