The Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership wants people to remember that there are homeless people in the community who need help.

While local community-based organizations work tirelessly with the homeless and those facing housing insecurity, it often takes a monumental effort to keep the doors of emergency shelters open and pay frontline staff on a regular basis.

Thankfully, greater local co-ordination in the realm of homelessness and low-income housing is making a difference, but the efforts of the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership and its dozens of local partners are not enough.Article content Ask yourself: What am I prepared to do to? Do I have an hour or two per month — or per week — that I can spare to volunteer at the Friendship Inn, the YWCA or the Saskatoon Food Bank? Talk to your neighbours.
