The provincial government is proposing a bill that would stop job postings from requiring Canadian work experience.
“For far too long, too many people arriving in Canada have been funnelled toward dead-end jobs they’re overqualified for,” said Labour Minister David Piccini in a release. “We need to ensure these people can land well-paying and rewarding careers that help tackle the labour shortage.”If passed, the legislation would ban ‘Canadian work experience’ as a requirement in job postings and application forms.
