Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie was voted to become the next Ontario Liberal Party leader on the third ballot at the Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Convention, Saturday Dec 2, 2023 at the Metro Convention Centre. She then spoke to reporters.

Crombie said the Liberal Party would pay for these tax cuts by putting an end to Premier Doug Ford's practice of cutting "shady deals," pointing to the "It's a very clear choice to the people of Ontario, it's tax you to death under Bonnie Crombie, or make sure you vote for the PCs and we'll put money back in your pocket," Ford said.Ontario Liberals rule out provincial carbon tax as part of 2026 election platform

"Tinkering around the edges is not going to solve the affordability crisis people in Ontario are facing," he said via email.
