Former federal health minister Dr. Jane Philpott will head a new team with a mandate to connect every person in Ontario to a primary care provider within the next five years, the province announced Monday.Jane Philpott was a federal Liberal MP from 2015 to 2019 and served in several cabinet roles, including as minister of health. She was expelled from the Liberal caucus in 2019. Former federal health minister Dr.
Philpott, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University and director of its School of Medicine, said in a statement that she wants to see 100 per cent of Ontarians attached to a family doctor or nurse practitioner working in a publicly funded team.
