UPDATED: A 19-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital following a shooting and fail-to-remain incident in the city’s Eglinton East area.
Toronto police said they received reports of a shooting in the area of Bellamy Road and Eglinton Avenue East at around 6:20 p.m.“When they arrived on scene, they located several shell casings on the road, but, but no one at that point had approached them as a victim,” Insp. Michael Williams told reporters at the scene. “While our officers were on scene, they received information that a 19-year-old male victim had shown up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to the left shoulder.
The vehicles involved in the shooting may have been involved in fail-to-remain collisions while fleeing the area, police said.Witnesses told police the Fusion had been involved in a shooting on Bellamy Road near Adanac Drive nearby. “That vehicle was being followed by another vehicle, our suspect vehicle, which is apparently a gray import sedan, possibly a Honda,” Williams said.
“As they were essentially fleeing the area, either one or both of those vehicles struck this van,” Williams said. “These folks have remained on scene to report an accident and our officers, our traffic services officers, have come on top of the hooting investigative team and our uniform officers to assist in that portion of the investigation.”Toronto police investigate a shooting in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Bellamy Road.
